Harry Ko Takes First Place in the Australian Brewers Cup Championships

Aug 30, 2022

After a brief period of suspense, the Australian Specialty Coffee Association announced that Harry Ko had indeed won first place in the 2022 Australian Brewers Cup Championships.

A confusion around who had won the competition arose when the ASCA posted the competition rankings on their Facebook and Instagram, and then removed the post.

Two days later they reposted a shot of the Brewers Cup finalists with a caption explaining, “After a mistaken judging assessment, based on the misconception that used brewing devices accidentally had residue of additive substances, rankings for the 2022 De’Longhi Brewers Cup Championship have been updated as above“.  They went on to apologize for any stress and confusion this mistake had caused to the mis-ranked baristas.

As expected, some of the baristas placed differently in the updated post, however, Harry Ko from Bennetts Coffee in Melbourne was the clear winner in both posts, to the delight of his supporters and fans.

We look forward to seeing Harry again in Melbourne where he will represent Australia in the World Brewers Cup Championships.
