The 2022 Australian Coffee Championships are fast approaching and will be taking place from the 17th - 20th of August at the Melbourne Meat Market on Blackwood St.
Competitions will include the Brewers Cup Championships, the Cup Tasters Championships, the Latte Art Championships, and of course, the Australian Barista Championships.
Competitors will include the winners of the regional competitions as well as the ASCA’s top 12 baristas in each discipline.
The winners of the Barista Championships as well as the Brewers Cup Championships will go on to represent Australia in their respective disciplines at MICE, the Melbourne International Coffee Expo. Baristas from all over the world will be attending MICE to battle it out for global recognition. The anticipation is bubbling over as we prepare for this major event and we can’t wait to see who will be representing Australia.
Australia’s last win in the World Brewers Cup Championships was back in 2013 thanks to Barista James McCarthy and we haven’t brought home a World Barista trophy since Sasa Sestic won the title in 2015. Sestic, who has something of a reputation for being a fierce competitor (he also represented Australia in Men’s Handball during the 2000 summer olympics), will be competing in the 2022 Australian Brewers Cup Championships, much to our delight.
